9 October 2011 How often do you hear Monkey Mind Chatter throw the 'should' word in conversation. We not only hear our monkey mind but we hear others too when we tell them our problems. If Monkey Mind is in charge of the conversation, you bet Monkey Mind is going to respond unless the other person recognizes that Monkey Mind is at play and says, “Wait a minute, this is Monkey Mind at play here.” When we say 'should' to ourselves and each other are we really listening or are we passing judgement on ourselves or worse passing our conditioned thought patterns and behaviours onto others?
Just look at how the word 'should' shows up in conversation: You should not be feeling this way. This is how you should feel. You should not think that way. You should do this. You should try to... You should let go. You should not be that way. You should be doing it this way. You should do this and not that. You should do better. You should think this and not that. You should try harder. You should try it my way, after all I know what you're going through. I've been there! Besides, you should know better. Do we ever stop to look at what judgements we place on ourselves and others. Whatever happened to just listening without passing judgement.
